According to Gartner, about 80% of all of the data in a company is unstructured or semi-structured. Gartner also predicted that the amount of unstructured and semi-structured data will have an average growth of 650% in the next five years. There is CRITICAL data on Windows/Unix file servers, SharePoint, Exchange and NAS devices across all companies, however, most of the time IT can't answer these fundamental questions:
- WHO has access to a data set?
- WHO has been accessing it?
- Who SHOULD have access to a data set?
- Which data is SENSITIVE?
- Who is the DATA OWNER?
- WHERE is my sensitive data overexposed, and how do I FIX it?
For most companies, on their unstructured and semi-structured data repositories, access control is OUT OF CONTROL. The current methods of performing file level auditing are not effective. People change roles/groups/functions and are given more and more access by IT - with little ability to revoke access. There is a major disconnect between IT and the business user. Companies are left with employees that have far more access then they need to do their jobs. That is a risk.
In this seminar, Arthur will share with you how the latest data governance technologies can help IT to answers the above questions. How to automate sensitive data discovery, access control management and auditing so that you can save 90% of your effort and resources if you are now doing it in the traditional manual way. How these technologies provide actionable data governance information and how these information transform into valuable use cases.
